A Citizen's Guide to Public Comment: How to Address the Bureau

The Bureau welcomes public participation at every hearing. This guide is intended to help citizens navigate the process with confidence and dignity.

Signing Up. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the hearing. Sign your name on the public comment sheet at the front desk. You will be called in the order you signed. Each speaker is allotted three minutes. The Bureau will provide a two-minute warning and a thirty-second warning. Please do not test the Bureau's commitment to the thirty-second warning.

Proper Address. The hearing is presided over by the Director of Kaiju Affairs or their designee. Address them as 'Mr. Director' or 'Madam Director' as appropriate. Address committee members as 'Commissioner.' Address the general public in attendance as 'fellow residents.'

What to Bring. Written comments may be submitted in triplicate. Visual aids are permitted if they fit on the provided easel. Snacks are permitted but must be of the non-crunchy variety. The Bureau regrets that it cannot accommodate crudités at this time.
