FAQ: How Can We Be Certain It's the Same Godzilla?

The question comes up at nearly every public hearing. It is a reasonable question. Godzilla has been active for 72 years. He has been attacked with experimental weapons, subjected to radiation exposure at levels that would be lethal to any known organism, and has traveled distances that would be biologically impossible for any known species to sustain. How can we be certain that the Godzilla documented in 2025 is the same individual who first appeared in Tokyo Bay in 1954?

Dorsal Fin Configuration (Primary Identifier). Godzilla's dorsal fins are as unique as a human fingerprint. The arrangement, spacing, angle, and relative height of each fin create a configuration that is mathematically unique to each individual. Every sighting since 1954 has been compared against this catalog. Every sighting matches the original configuration within acceptable tolerance for natural growth. Bio-Acoustic Signature (Secondary Identifier). Godzilla's vocalizations produce a unique spectral profile that is as individually distinctive as a human voiceprint.
